Sybase Equity increases stocks in Anchor Land

SYBASE Equity Investments Corp. has raised its stake in listed property firm Anchor Land Holdings Inc. to 29.06 percent from 10.17 percent.

The investment firm owned by the family of retail tycoon Henry Sy said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it acquired another 65.473-million common shares through the stock market. The shares were equivalent to 18.89-percent interest in Anchor Land.

The additional shares were bought from Sept. 11 to 29 ranging from P6.50 to P8.33 apiece. Anchor Land president Imelda Taneda Sze and stockholder Rena Obo Alvarez, who respectively sold 21,493,168 and 13,173,232 shares, sold the shares Sybase Equity bought.

Anchor Land shares closed unchanged at P8 each on Friday.

The purchases brought to 100.729 million the common shares owned by Sybase Equity in Anchor Land. Anchor Land vice chairman Steve Li earlier said the acquisition by the Sy family of more shares in Anchor Land was testament to the positive outlook for the company over the long term.
